old friends are new again

well, tonight as i was getting out of the truck to spend the evening with the wife and the dogs, my phone rang. as i went to answer it i noticed thew number was from our old stomping grounds, so i answered it and was greeted with "what are you wearing under those clothes?" i was pleasantly surprised at that greeting as i hadn't heard it lately, mater of fact, it had been about a year since that greeting was given to me. i have thought alot about the greeter, since she was and still is one of our bestest friends and i was a speaker and a pall bearer at her late husbands and one of my best friends funeral. i miss him. she called as she was going through her phone changing numbers from 1 to another. it was a special surprise and now that we have her new number we will keep in touch more often.

i gave her the address to this page and hopefully she will come check it out. she, however, doesn't know my rule about my friends names. that is, i will NEVER use my friends real names unless they give me their express permission to do so. that said, i would like to welcome Betty from Chicago to the page. also, she may give this address to her step son charlie, who is in his second year of college in Ohio, and the wife and i are sooooo proud of him. way to go charlie, keep it up.

its been quite a week since my last post down in Miami. went about 4 miles to get loaded with steel shelving going up to a place in Kansas city, mo. had to push a bit harder than i wanted to cause i got tired in tifton Ga and went to bed for about 6 hours. ran from tifton Ga to warrenton mo and went to bed for bout 4 hours and made delivery at noon in k.c. mo.. sat for 30 mins and dispatch sent me to k.c. ks. to load for okc, got that here and since i was getting new steer tires put on today, i just went to bed again, and got up late and had to wait for my turn to get in the shop. when done they gave me my new load, 3 drops finaling in Portland,or. on Wednesday. called the wife, and since we just spent 800 bucks to get the car fixed, had her get it out on the road for a short road trip to here. now we're in the motel, for the night, shes sleeping, I'm typing and getting tired too.

thats all for now. i gotta go ta bed. yall be safe out yonder.....mike

if it's Tuesday, it must be Miami

well, here we are again.....only this time i'm in miami,fl. delivered 4 drops here yesterday and had to lay over here last night. while miami in itsself is ok, florida is not, in my opinion, very truckstop friendly. only "real" truckstops are way north of here, the 1 or 2 that are near miami, arent too nice and they make you pay for the privelige to park in them, unless you buy more fuel than the parking fee would cost you. the one i got stuck at last nite charges $12.00 a nite plus tax, or you have to buy 100 gallons of fuel to get out free. at over 2.25 a gallon, the $12.00 seems cheap by comparison. in my opinion.........WHAT A FREAKIN SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will add more to this later, but for now heres the new post.....yall be safe out yonder, mike

home time part 2

well here we go again....its getting to be that time again...I'll be heading out again tomorrow on another 6 week excursion. traveling the highways n byways of this great land again.

it's been an interesting, fun and busy 4 days off. after getting home late Thursday, i spent the night in the truck cause it was too late to have the wife come n get me, as she had to go to work at 4 am. bob tailed to the house about 8 am Friday and put the tractor in the yard, and the fun began.

Saturday morning we went to a dog show here in town. though not just any dog show. it was a show for "bully dogs". these things are MASSIVE. not in height or stature but in pure brute strength. we met Bruno, tankster and many others. they were as friendly as a puppy though some weighed in at 180 lbs or so. the have pulling competitions for these dogs, not pulling small stuff.....noooooo.......pulling sleds on v-rails weighing in excess of 4000(no that's not a typo)pounds. we saw the trophy for one dog that weighed 73 lbs and pulled its sled over 16(that's competition distance) feet wit 4863 lbs on it for a total weight of 9000 lbs(and that's not a typo either). check out this link for a look at these big, brawny, smart, strong, and good looking dogs. here's the link http://www.smokeholekennels.com/ .

as i said also, Sunday was mothers day and i was taking the wife to see "the lion king" in Oklahoma city at the civic center as her mothers day present on Saturday. i also promised an honest trucker style review of said play......here goes. it was terrific!!! it started like the movie....sort of. pride rock was a movable rolling stage unto itself. we,unfortunately, forgot to pick up a program either on the way in or out, so, i cant tell ya the actors names', but, from the actor that played mufasa to the child actor that played young and then the actor that played older simba were out standing, their voices clean and clear so their singing was equally as good. scarr was as evel as the movie, the hienas were both "scary" and amusing at the same time. rafiki, zazu, timone and pumba were sadonicly funny and witty, but zazu really made the show with his wit and humor. the costumes were outstanding. they made the actors look like the animals. the best examples of this was the elephant and baby elephant, the giraffe's, and the hienas. while all the costumes were outsanding, those stood out over the others in my eyes(my opinion only). the visual effects were good too. the way they made the "herds" of animals "run" on stage was interesting. they had several "rube goldberg" type devices to make the "herds" run. you would have to see them its way to hard to describe. all in all as my own opinion, i would give it a 8.5 out of 10. it left ya wanting more at the end. like wow, was that it, i was expecting more, but the movie ended the same way for me. we had box seats upper right and the seats were great also.

that's it for now, I'll get back to ya later in the week. ya ll be safe out yonder....mike

Home Time

well its been a few days or so since i was here and alot has happened since i was here last. as i type this I'm sitting in my kitchen at home, with my youngest daughter sitting on the floor playing with our 2 dogs, Max n Irma.

Ernest caught up with me in Alabama and we did run over to the Carolina's together. it was an INTERESTING ride. real heavy rain through the Birmingham Al area then i calmed down only to reemerge and get stronger around talledega where we ran into the before or after of the tornado that was going through the area at the time. again heavy rain but now we had hail like golf balls. we ran out of that into better conditions over to Temple,Ga. we had dinner and as we were eating the lights went out. the storm we ran out of in Alabama had caught up to us. while i stayed to finish eating,Ernest had to get out as it was too hot in the building for him. i got the meal for free as the card reader for credit cards was down.

as we left there, my brother called to find out where i was and found out we were headed right towards each other. i,northbound on i-85 and he southbound. we passed like 2 ships in the night(literally). he was on his way to Anderson Sc and i was on the way to Spartanberg, Sc. i stopped for the night at the t/a in Duncan Sc and on his way back north the brother stopped for coffee. he had his better half with him. i really like her and she is good for him too. better than the last psychotic bitch he was with. THAT could be a whole nother blog.

made my deliveries in spartanburg and timmonsville, layed over in Florence Sc then reloaded in timmonsville the next day to go to Oklahoma city,Ok. got almost to Oklahoma city and the dispatcher changed me again(as usual). had me got to the yard drop n swap with another trailer and go down by Dallas,Tex for 6am the next morning. did that. then did some running around in the Dallas area, shuttling trailer and the like. then he sent me over to get my HOME load at a place in Arlington,Tex going up to a place in Ada,ok for asap. dropped there and did the bobtail thing home.

nothing of any real import on the stupidity front this week to tell you about.

i will be off for the weekend and back out n too it on tuesday, so, nothing new till sometime after tuesday. i will be posting my HONEST review of "The Lion King" , the play, soon after on monday maybe but more than likely on or after tuesday.

DON'T FORGET!!!! Mothers day is THIS SUNDAY!!! Mom is THE most important person in your life, i don't care if she really is your mom, an adopted mom, your wife who is the mother of your kids, or if its your daughter who is the mom. DON'T FORGET THE MOM'S IN YOUR LIFE. i wish my mom was still here. i wish my wife's mom was still here. their both deceased now and we sure do miss them. love ya mom. I'm taking the wife to a play on Saturday for moms day. we;re gonna see "The Lion King" that's all for now.....ya ll be safe out yonder.....mike

Incoherent Trepidations

Incoherent trepidations.....I got that from my youngest daughter. that's what she says my ramblings here, are. that may be true, but lets take that apart a bit....incoherent....that means i think, unconscious, or not with all your senses at a given time, not making good sense. trepidations...trepidation is going or getting into something without knowing what your getting or going into. trepidations would be doing the same thing only doing them all at once. so using that somewhat odd way of looking at things, i guess what i put here could be considered incoherent trepidations.

so, here i sit at the petro truck stop in bucksville,al on my way to spartanburg and timmonsville,sc for Monday delivery, waitin too on one of my other best friends Ernest (not his real name). he knows who he is. he is a driver for the same company that i drive for and he is headed to Charlotte,nc for Monday too. so i thought i would wait on him, as i type he is probably sleeping in Jackson,ms about 2.5 hrs behind me, and buy him breakfast, or lunch, depending on his mood and my finances. after which we'll run on over to the Carolina's together with me dropping off around spartanburg.

haven't had any stupid stuff happen since we last chatted here, but, it is still early in the week...I'll keep ya posted on the dumb stuff.

don't forget moms day is next Sunday, links to a couple good sites are below...i get NOTHING if you choose to visit or use any of those sites, they are there cause i utilize them from time to time and thought you would enjoy them as well.
y'all be safe out yonder, more incoherent trepidations later.....big mike
