i'm still alive

dont know if any one reads this thing so sometimes i wonder why i write anything here. i know, i started this thing, but, some times i just dont have anything to say. huh, imagine that, a trucker with nothin to say?
its been a while,as usual, since i was here last. but nothing has really changed. the wife is doing much better after her gall bladder surgury, but chose to not return to her job. that makes it a bit more demanding on me as i am now the only one floating the boat so to speak. she dose get unemployment insurance so that help a bunch. also, she has undertaken a new enterprise, i guess is the way to describe it. she has started to sell Herbalife products. so, if you use Herbalife, or want to try Herbalife, post a coment and i will send you her web site address and her e-mail address so you can contact her directly. yall be safe out yonder, big mike

home time, surgury on the wife and other (mis)adventures

well, again, its been a while since i was here and many things have happened. i was home over the weekend of the 7th through the 19th for home time and had a great weekend. friday morning i had a dr. appt. just to check things out, and have my b.p. meds and thyroid meds re evaluated. later that afternoon i played golf with the daughter at the casino course south of the house, the wife went to our motel room for the night with the dogs, and afterb the golf game the daughter took me down to the motel where i got ready for the "Journey" concert the wife and i were going to. once at the casino for the concert we had to wait for bout an hour so i played some blackjack and was up 40$ when the show started, after the show we played for bout another hour and a half and ended up 50$ up when we went back to the room , walked the dogs and went to bed.

the rest of the weekend was pretty much as a weekend should be, running around, good food, good friends and good times. the wife had a doctors appt. on monday with the surgeon that was to take out her gall bladder on the, as we found out, the following wednsday. as usual, i went back on the road tuesday morning and went to the yard with the load i brought up out of dallas. the boss wasnt tooo happy when i told him i needed to be back home the following tuesday for the wifes surgury.

i went out to southgate,ca. to deliver then went to our drop lot in heber,ca. to pick up a load to denison,tx. fer saturday. then the runnin around began. suffice to say i went too far to just get back home on tuesday, but i didnt even get home till 2:30 am wednsday. surgury was set for 11am wed. and all went well. i would add a pic of what they took out of her, but, this is a family site and would not be appropriate here.

i'm now sitting on a sidestreet in phoenix,az. waiting to unload the first if 3 drops in the morning. the other 2 are out in cali on tuesday, 1 in city of industry and the final in carson for as soon as i can get there after the second.

just a friendly reminder, schools gonna be starting up real soon, so that means kids out early in the morning waitin for the bus or running to the bus, and the older ones, the juniors and seniors out there, and you wont know who they are, have cars and friends and cell phones and all the other distractions in those cars and wont be paying full attention to you, so you need to pat full attention to them, along with all those other things you need to pay attention to. be careful out there.

well, thats all for now, yall be safe out yonder, big mike

Broke,Busted and Disgusted

well it has been a while since i was here last, and to be quite honest,i was just too lazy and sort of uninterested in being here. dont know why, just was.

as i sit here at the keyboard this night, i'm broke down in the south subburbs of chicago, with a truck that has a sucked injector. was here to deliver a load in chicago on friday and then take friday night and part of saturday off to visit a family friend and take her out for a really late birthday dinner and then 2 of my daughters and grand kids in the far south town of kankakee,il. delivered and all went weel there, then went to the place i was to pick up at, dropped my wagon, got the bills for the new load then stopped to pick up some cd's from our friend checked in to the hotel and started to make the discs she wanted
well, things went well friday night as we went out to applebees. i had made the 4 discs she asked me to make. 3 of the discs were good but the 4th one just would'nt make. had a nice time and a good dinner. she dropped me off and i went to bed.

the bad stuff started on saturday morning when i went out to get the day started. oppened up the door, put the key in, started it up and the motor just started shakin like somthin was broke, blowing thich black oily smoke out the pipe. well, called the shop and they had a road service truck come out and try to figure out what was up. they determined that it was a broke injector. it wastoo late on sturday to take it anywhere so the company put me back in the motel i had just checkrd out of. they were not happy with the price though(like i was when i payed for it on friday night)but sadly they had no choice. what, the motel was gonna let me leave the truck here to go stay someplace else??? can you say NOT!!

so, here i've been sitting since friday, or technicaly, saturday morning, watching tv eating once a day, watching tv and drinking beer.not much beer mind you, just a 6 pack over 2 days.

wish i had more to say, you would think after not being here for a while, i would have more to say, but i dont. so for now.............................yall be safe out yonder, big mike

hard time getting home and other adventures

well the last time we visited i was doing a 34 hr restart at the petro in Joplin,mo. it has been quite the adventure to get home and as i type this I'm just north of Detroit,mi waiting to load in the morning....but i digress. as i said last i was in Joplin,mo, they, being my dispatchers, brought me to the yard in okc and dropped my load then i did the bob-tail thing up to get my next load in Edmond,Ok going to Des Moines,Ia for the next day. mad my delivery and reloaded right in the same door going to Eagle Pass,Tex for Wednesday morning, the was to lay over till the pm and load back to okc for Thursday then home Thursday night, that however, didn't work.

they switched me up in Gainesville, Tex and sent me to Dallas, Tex supposedly to pick up a load to Lawton, Ok for asap. well, when i got to Dallas the Lawton load magically disappeared and i was on my way to aurora co for the next day by noon. managed to get to aurora by 945 and was empty by 1030 and was sitting waiting on a load when my dispatcher called and asked why i hadn't picked up the load he sent me and he found out my truck was turned off (to save fuel)and i hadn't received it yet. well he gave me the info and i was off n running to Denver to get stop 1 of 2 going to Dallas(the second being in Amarillo, Tex). got that loaded and was 35 miles east of Denver when things changed again.

same dispatcher called me and sent me back towards Denver and south on i-25 where i stopped at a small t/s in Colorado Springs to wait on another driver with a sick motor to bring me his load out of Denver going to.....wanna guess? remember i live south of Oklahoma City,Ok and have a Dr. apt. at 930 Friday morning and this is now Wednesday and i am in Colorado Springs,Co. can ya guess yet? okc right? WRONG!! I'm now going to Prewitt,Nm for Thursday morning, Prewitt is 100 miles west of Albuquerque,Nm. the only saving thing if there is one, is that i had a reload right out if the same place i unloaded. i was told that i would relay this load with another driver in Amarillo,Tex as soon as i could get there. can ya guess what happened next.....come on..i know ya can.

if you guessed that i wasn't gonna swap in Amarillo you win the prize....don't know what that would be yet but......i ended up taking that load all the way down to the drop yard in Dallas that this all basically started at in,Dallas,Tex. i got to the drop lot at 3am on Friday morning, dropped and did the bob-tail thing again up to Roanoke,Tex to pick up the load that FINALLY got me home at 6am on Friday morning. i fell into bed for 3 hours and my daughter picked me up for the Dr. after all was said and done and all the driving was finished it was a 3790 mile trip to get home from Joplin,Mo.

after the Dr. visit her and i went out fer breakfast, then she took me to the second hand sports store and bought the both of us a used set of golf clubs, 2 bags, and i bought 20 used good golf balls and we were off to the golf course, for the very first round of hopefully lots more of golf. we naturally SUCKED as it was our very first round after all. she shot a 69 and i shot a 64......for 9 holes. the clubs and the golf course fees were my fathers day present from her. thank you VERY VERY much my daughter. the rest of the weekend was real nice and relaxing. the wife and i went to the Winstar casino for dinner Saturday and we had a real good dinner then we went and donated, i mean lost 20 bucks total on the slots then as we were headed out, we topped at the box office to check prices on some tickets for upcoming shows and ended up wit a pair of tix for the august 7 show for Journey. that was my fathers day present from the BETTER HALF. steak at home on the grill on Sunday, with homemade double baked potatoes, corn on the cob, and homemade apple pie on Sunday and home made pizza on Monday, then back after it on Tuesday morning, up to the yard to spend all day in the shop getting my under dash water leak fixed and a new fuel sending unit installed, then up to Pontiac,Mi to where i am now.

well, that's enough for this time, I've bored you sufficiently this time. as always, ya ll be safe out yonder, mike

stuck in joplin again

that would be joplin,mo for the rest of ya. been here since yesterday and wont leave till tomorrow(sunday)morning headed to oklahoma city for a monday delivery, but, i will be dropping this in our yard there in okc bout noon thirty.

its been an interesting couple days since i was last here. last we spoke i was layed over in memphis tn for the weekend. well i delivered that in memphis on monday then went less than a mile to reload for okc. for the next morning. had enough time and ran hard enough to get there so i stopped at the casino for a few hours. went in with 50 and came out with 10. not a profitable night.

after delivery i went to the yard and was in and out in 30 mins headed to catoosa(tulsa)ok to reload 2 pickups headed to savannah,ga for thursday at 6am edt. made the 2 drops in savannah by 7:30 and headed to the pilot t/s and went ta bed. dispatcher called at 9:30 with a load out of louisville,2 picks and frankfort,ky,1 pick for a friday loading to deliver monday. yold him i would leave after i woke up, which i did around 1pm cent. time, had some food at the waffel house next door, got fuel and rolle out around 3:30pm. you know the rest so far from the first paragraph.

DONT FORGET FATHERS DAY IS SUNDAY,JUNE 21. dads just as important as mom is. after all, WITHOUT him, you wouldnt be here at all. dont forget dad, take him to breakfast, wash his car, treat him to a round of golf(if he plays)or mini golf if he dont, just DONT give him another tie! ugh!! my kids never(thank you)gave me a tie. they did give me great grand kids, though.

well, thats all for now....oh....also...dont forget SCHOOLS OUT, which means lots of families out on a summer vacation, kids out playing, and maybe sometimes not payinfg full attention, so be extra careful when driving those cars n big trucks through those small towns n big cities.

yall be safe out yonder...big mike

if its sat/sun, its gotta be Memphis

yea, its layover time again. did the whole layover in Miami thing and my fearless travel agent aka my dispatcher took what ever he could just to get me out of there. that was a load from ft.lauderdale that loaded on friday but couldnt deliver till monday inMemphis, so here i sit in the truck stop just south of memphis. been here since yesterday afternoon and will deliver tomorrow mornin at 0900. then its off to.....well i guess i will find that out in the mornin.

i would like to welcome(possibly) a new friend to the blog page. her name is ashley(see the rule above) and she lives somewhere in pensylvania. she is a new friend (i hope) that i met tonight while playing pool on yahoo games. she is a good player and beat me a couple of times.

it was an uneventful ride up from miami to here. ran up with don. the same one i ran part way down with. he got a load to muskogee,ok for monday too. it was a fun ride up with him. the eye candy at the mall he and i went to and then i went to to eat at was exceptional. the food was too expensive but was faily good though. we stopped for the night and fuel in lee,fl then ran all day saturday to get up here.

thats all for now.....yall be safe out yonder, mike

if its thursday, it must be miami(again)?

well here i am, again, layed over in miami,fl. yeeeeeha! cant ya tell how happy i am to be here?!?! this time i didnt go to that ratty truckstop i was at last time i was here. naw, im stayin in the parkinlot of the customer i delivered to. no pay to park, no one ta bother me, but the bad side is no bathroom. oh, and no food near by. i ran part of the way down here with a new friend, his name is don(not his real name) and he works here for the same outfit as i do. he has a load for in the morning, but i get to lay over till sometime tomorrow(friday) till they find me a load.got my 50 layover pay though. not near enough, but better than a kick in the shin.

had a fun ride back down from kent,wa. no real problems or dumb stuff on the way down if you dont count the load they tried to give me, at 537 miles out of the yard. they wanted me to finish the run to the yard and drop n hook to another trailer n keep going on to ft. smith,ar for 0800 the next am. needless to say, i didnt take it. no possible way to do it.

had a death in the family this past wed. my kids' aunt passed away from a heart attack quite unexpectidly. the funeral will be on monday, but i dont think i will be able to make it there, as we probably wont have any freight going that way. my deepest and most sincere condolences to my kids mom, and her other brother and sister.

well thats all for now. yall be safe out yonder....mike

old friends are new again

well, tonight as i was getting out of the truck to spend the evening with the wife and the dogs, my phone rang. as i went to answer it i noticed thew number was from our old stomping grounds, so i answered it and was greeted with "what are you wearing under those clothes?" i was pleasantly surprised at that greeting as i hadn't heard it lately, mater of fact, it had been about a year since that greeting was given to me. i have thought alot about the greeter, since she was and still is one of our bestest friends and i was a speaker and a pall bearer at her late husbands and one of my best friends funeral. i miss him. she called as she was going through her phone changing numbers from 1 to another. it was a special surprise and now that we have her new number we will keep in touch more often.

i gave her the address to this page and hopefully she will come check it out. she, however, doesn't know my rule about my friends names. that is, i will NEVER use my friends real names unless they give me their express permission to do so. that said, i would like to welcome Betty from Chicago to the page. also, she may give this address to her step son charlie, who is in his second year of college in Ohio, and the wife and i are sooooo proud of him. way to go charlie, keep it up.

its been quite a week since my last post down in Miami. went about 4 miles to get loaded with steel shelving going up to a place in Kansas city, mo. had to push a bit harder than i wanted to cause i got tired in tifton Ga and went to bed for about 6 hours. ran from tifton Ga to warrenton mo and went to bed for bout 4 hours and made delivery at noon in k.c. mo.. sat for 30 mins and dispatch sent me to k.c. ks. to load for okc, got that here and since i was getting new steer tires put on today, i just went to bed again, and got up late and had to wait for my turn to get in the shop. when done they gave me my new load, 3 drops finaling in Portland,or. on Wednesday. called the wife, and since we just spent 800 bucks to get the car fixed, had her get it out on the road for a short road trip to here. now we're in the motel, for the night, shes sleeping, I'm typing and getting tired too.

thats all for now. i gotta go ta bed. yall be safe out yonder.....mike

if it's Tuesday, it must be Miami

well, here we are again.....only this time i'm in miami,fl. delivered 4 drops here yesterday and had to lay over here last night. while miami in itsself is ok, florida is not, in my opinion, very truckstop friendly. only "real" truckstops are way north of here, the 1 or 2 that are near miami, arent too nice and they make you pay for the privelige to park in them, unless you buy more fuel than the parking fee would cost you. the one i got stuck at last nite charges $12.00 a nite plus tax, or you have to buy 100 gallons of fuel to get out free. at over 2.25 a gallon, the $12.00 seems cheap by comparison. in my opinion.........WHAT A FREAKIN SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will add more to this later, but for now heres the new post.....yall be safe out yonder, mike

home time part 2

well here we go again....its getting to be that time again...I'll be heading out again tomorrow on another 6 week excursion. traveling the highways n byways of this great land again.

it's been an interesting, fun and busy 4 days off. after getting home late Thursday, i spent the night in the truck cause it was too late to have the wife come n get me, as she had to go to work at 4 am. bob tailed to the house about 8 am Friday and put the tractor in the yard, and the fun began.

Saturday morning we went to a dog show here in town. though not just any dog show. it was a show for "bully dogs". these things are MASSIVE. not in height or stature but in pure brute strength. we met Bruno, tankster and many others. they were as friendly as a puppy though some weighed in at 180 lbs or so. the have pulling competitions for these dogs, not pulling small stuff.....noooooo.......pulling sleds on v-rails weighing in excess of 4000(no that's not a typo)pounds. we saw the trophy for one dog that weighed 73 lbs and pulled its sled over 16(that's competition distance) feet wit 4863 lbs on it for a total weight of 9000 lbs(and that's not a typo either). check out this link for a look at these big, brawny, smart, strong, and good looking dogs. here's the link http://www.smokeholekennels.com/ .

as i said also, Sunday was mothers day and i was taking the wife to see "the lion king" in Oklahoma city at the civic center as her mothers day present on Saturday. i also promised an honest trucker style review of said play......here goes. it was terrific!!! it started like the movie....sort of. pride rock was a movable rolling stage unto itself. we,unfortunately, forgot to pick up a program either on the way in or out, so, i cant tell ya the actors names', but, from the actor that played mufasa to the child actor that played young and then the actor that played older simba were out standing, their voices clean and clear so their singing was equally as good. scarr was as evel as the movie, the hienas were both "scary" and amusing at the same time. rafiki, zazu, timone and pumba were sadonicly funny and witty, but zazu really made the show with his wit and humor. the costumes were outstanding. they made the actors look like the animals. the best examples of this was the elephant and baby elephant, the giraffe's, and the hienas. while all the costumes were outsanding, those stood out over the others in my eyes(my opinion only). the visual effects were good too. the way they made the "herds" of animals "run" on stage was interesting. they had several "rube goldberg" type devices to make the "herds" run. you would have to see them its way to hard to describe. all in all as my own opinion, i would give it a 8.5 out of 10. it left ya wanting more at the end. like wow, was that it, i was expecting more, but the movie ended the same way for me. we had box seats upper right and the seats were great also.

that's it for now, I'll get back to ya later in the week. ya ll be safe out yonder....mike

Home Time

well its been a few days or so since i was here and alot has happened since i was here last. as i type this I'm sitting in my kitchen at home, with my youngest daughter sitting on the floor playing with our 2 dogs, Max n Irma.

Ernest caught up with me in Alabama and we did run over to the Carolina's together. it was an INTERESTING ride. real heavy rain through the Birmingham Al area then i calmed down only to reemerge and get stronger around talledega where we ran into the before or after of the tornado that was going through the area at the time. again heavy rain but now we had hail like golf balls. we ran out of that into better conditions over to Temple,Ga. we had dinner and as we were eating the lights went out. the storm we ran out of in Alabama had caught up to us. while i stayed to finish eating,Ernest had to get out as it was too hot in the building for him. i got the meal for free as the card reader for credit cards was down.

as we left there, my brother called to find out where i was and found out we were headed right towards each other. i,northbound on i-85 and he southbound. we passed like 2 ships in the night(literally). he was on his way to Anderson Sc and i was on the way to Spartanberg, Sc. i stopped for the night at the t/a in Duncan Sc and on his way back north the brother stopped for coffee. he had his better half with him. i really like her and she is good for him too. better than the last psychotic bitch he was with. THAT could be a whole nother blog.

made my deliveries in spartanburg and timmonsville, layed over in Florence Sc then reloaded in timmonsville the next day to go to Oklahoma city,Ok. got almost to Oklahoma city and the dispatcher changed me again(as usual). had me got to the yard drop n swap with another trailer and go down by Dallas,Tex for 6am the next morning. did that. then did some running around in the Dallas area, shuttling trailer and the like. then he sent me over to get my HOME load at a place in Arlington,Tex going up to a place in Ada,ok for asap. dropped there and did the bobtail thing home.

nothing of any real import on the stupidity front this week to tell you about.

i will be off for the weekend and back out n too it on tuesday, so, nothing new till sometime after tuesday. i will be posting my HONEST review of "The Lion King" , the play, soon after on monday maybe but more than likely on or after tuesday.

DON'T FORGET!!!! Mothers day is THIS SUNDAY!!! Mom is THE most important person in your life, i don't care if she really is your mom, an adopted mom, your wife who is the mother of your kids, or if its your daughter who is the mom. DON'T FORGET THE MOM'S IN YOUR LIFE. i wish my mom was still here. i wish my wife's mom was still here. their both deceased now and we sure do miss them. love ya mom. I'm taking the wife to a play on Saturday for moms day. we;re gonna see "The Lion King" that's all for now.....ya ll be safe out yonder.....mike

Incoherent Trepidations

Incoherent trepidations.....I got that from my youngest daughter. that's what she says my ramblings here, are. that may be true, but lets take that apart a bit....incoherent....that means i think, unconscious, or not with all your senses at a given time, not making good sense. trepidations...trepidation is going or getting into something without knowing what your getting or going into. trepidations would be doing the same thing only doing them all at once. so using that somewhat odd way of looking at things, i guess what i put here could be considered incoherent trepidations.

so, here i sit at the petro truck stop in bucksville,al on my way to spartanburg and timmonsville,sc for Monday delivery, waitin too on one of my other best friends Ernest (not his real name). he knows who he is. he is a driver for the same company that i drive for and he is headed to Charlotte,nc for Monday too. so i thought i would wait on him, as i type he is probably sleeping in Jackson,ms about 2.5 hrs behind me, and buy him breakfast, or lunch, depending on his mood and my finances. after which we'll run on over to the Carolina's together with me dropping off around spartanburg.

haven't had any stupid stuff happen since we last chatted here, but, it is still early in the week...I'll keep ya posted on the dumb stuff.

don't forget moms day is next Sunday, links to a couple good sites are below...i get NOTHING if you choose to visit or use any of those sites, they are there cause i utilize them from time to time and thought you would enjoy them as well.
y'all be safe out yonder, more incoherent trepidations later.....big mike

Thursday in Tennesee

well it's Thursday. haven't been here fer a while so i thought i would add a lil something.

its been a long three or four days since i last put something up. last i wrote i was stuck in eagle pass TX waiting on a load, well since then i have been to Greensboro NC to deliver a load of something (we usually don't know and i always don't care) to polo Ralph Lauren and after i delivered i was in bed. delivered late at night and i was beat. then In the morning i went to asheboro NC to pick up a load of some other stuff and took that to MC Kinney TX and did a drop n swap with an empty trailer which i took to another driver so he could load it and get home, his wife was in the emergency room at the hospital, and i went over and picked up his load in our drop yard in Dallas TX . it was late when i picked up and i had been up since 0730 that day, i didn't make it too far. just to Prescott Ar where i went to bed yet again. got up this am and started to roll out, my dispatcher called and said we were gonna relay the load in Dickson tn, and that is where i am now. I've got another load going back down to eagle pass Tex but I'm gonna drop this at the same drop yard i picked the other one up at tomorrow afternoon.

I've only seen 1 stupid thing so far this week...a big truck just about took the hood(bonnet for those of you across the pond in England) off of another truck as he was being STUPID trying to get off of an exit ramp on i-640 going around Knoxville tn. he didn't miss the other truck by 18 inches. really stupid, very scary and extremely dangerous. and i along with 5 or 6 other drivers told him so on the cb radio.

ran into some very bad weather this past week too. nasty rain, thunder boomers lightning and heavy winds, but we all needed the rains, just not so much at one time. sorry Houston.
Dont forget every one...mothers day is just around the corner. dont forget the one that brung ya. or the one that brung yer kids! or the both of them for that matter. or your daughters if there moms too. check out the links below for some possible gift ideas for mom. pajamagrams or a vermont teddybear...nice....and she'll love ya for it too. yall be safe out yonder....mike

joliet,il to marion,oh

well, here it is, the highly anticipated second posting...lol. its been an interesting day. rolled out of where i was parked last night in joliet,il this morning bout 7:30 and had to make my delivery in lansing mi today b-4 noon. did that. been there. now, after some delays and my dispatcher not knowing what exactily he wanted me to do, i sit for the night in a rest area on us23 north of marion oh . going to get a bit of sleep(was up WAAAAAY to late last night)and roll out bout 6am going down to grove port,oh to drop-n-swap n pick up a loaded trailer and take it to grove city, oh to unload and then take that trailer to delaware,oh to drop-n-swap again for a load going to eagle pass,tx for friday b-4 noon .
the weather has been lousy all day. rain cold sleet and generally crappy.cant wait to get back south. i hate cold(along with stupid and several other things we'll get to along the way)snow and i dont do chains or as some call them "truck bling". if ya gotta hang iron, it just time to go to bed.
