well here we go again....its getting to be that time again...I'll be heading out again tomorrow on another 6 week excursion. traveling the highways n byways of this great land again.
it's been an interesting, fun and busy 4 days off. after getting home late Thursday, i spent the night in the truck cause it was too late to have the wife come n get me, as she had to go to work at 4 am. bob tailed to the house about 8 am Friday and put the tractor in the yard, and the fun began.
Saturday morning we went to a dog show here in town. though not just any dog show. it was a show for "bully dogs". these things are MASSIVE. not in height or stature but in pure brute strength. we met Bruno, tankster and many others. they were as friendly as a puppy though some weighed in at 180 lbs or so. the have pulling competitions for these dogs, not pulling small stuff.....noooooo.......pulling sleds on v-rails weighing in excess of 4000(no that's not a typo)pounds. we saw the trophy for one dog that weighed 73 lbs and pulled its sled over 16(that's competition distance) feet wit 4863 lbs on it for a total weight of 9000 lbs(and that's not a typo either). check out this link for a look at these big, brawny, smart, strong, and good looking dogs. here's the link http://www.smokeholekennels.com/ .
as i said also, Sunday was mothers day and i was taking the wife to see "the lion king" in Oklahoma city at the civic center as her mothers day present on Saturday. i also promised an honest trucker style review of said play......here goes. it was terrific!!! it started like the movie....sort of. pride rock was a movable rolling stage unto itself. we,unfortunately, forgot to pick up a program either on the way in or out, so, i cant tell ya the actors names', but, from the actor that played mufasa to the child actor that played young and then the actor that played older simba were out standing, their voices clean and clear so their singing was equally as good. scarr was as evel as the movie, the hienas were both "scary" and amusing at the same time. rafiki, zazu, timone and pumba were sadonicly funny and witty, but zazu really made the show with his wit and humor. the costumes were outstanding. they made the actors look like the animals. the best examples of this was the elephant and baby elephant, the giraffe's, and the hienas. while all the costumes were outsanding, those stood out over the others in my eyes(my opinion only). the visual effects were good too. the way they made the "herds" of animals "run" on stage was interesting. they had several "rube goldberg" type devices to make the "herds" run. you would have to see them its way to hard to describe. all in all as my own opinion, i would give it a 8.5 out of 10. it left ya wanting more at the end. like wow, was that it, i was expecting more, but the movie ended the same way for me. we had box seats upper right and the seats were great also.
that's it for now, I'll get back to ya later in the week. ya ll be safe out yonder....mike
